“Hi … I’m Karen, she says, I do IT” … so says the new, down-to-earth chief of e-government in the USA. Mark Forman was someone I had a lot of time for and, in a short time (in government terms), he accomplished a huge amount. Karen Evans, his replacement, has a lot to live up to but I get the feeling that she’s the right kind of person to get the next stage done.
For a while, I thought it was just us, but it seems the funding problem for e-government goes global, according to Norm Lorentz who is the CTO for the USA:
“For fiscal 2004, agencies will be asked to contribute, but the administration would have to work harder to get more money in fiscal 2005.”
Karen, I wish you the best of luck. It’s going to be fun watching which programmes you launch and how you communicate them. I look forward to catching up sometime soon.
