At last, something else for scroll wheels

Dan at work showed me a neat feature on ukonline today … if you hold control and move the scroll wheel on your mouse (there’s probably another way to do it if you don’t have a wheel, but it looks cooler this way), the text resizes across the whole page. Below is a pretty clumsy attempt at showing how it looks – with two screens showing the different sizes in text. Now, if you go away and try this on a bunch of others sites very, very few get it right – private or public. BBC.co.uk looks to be right; Kablenet’s body text works, but not the navigation; Computerweekly doesn’t do anything. Why is it important? Accessibility – for those who find it hard to read small type or who just like big fonts.
